Introduction of Kota Govt. Museum

Kota Government Museum is located in the Brijvilas Palace near the Kishore Sagar in Rajasthan. On display there are a variety of exhibits which truly depicts the rich culture and history Rajasthan.  Photography is not allowed inside the museum, but one can do photography by taking permission from the Director of Archaeology and Museums, Jaipur. This museum has a very rich and unique collection of artifacts which depicts a clear sight of the ancient time. Some of the important exhibits of the museum are: manuscripts, statues, weapons, coins, selection of Hadoti sculpture.

Kota Govt. Museum is located in the northern part of Kishor Sagar Lake, it is one of the well preserved museum in Rajasthan. This museum was situated in Hawa Mahal of Jaipur in ancient times, now this museum has been shifted to Brij Vilas Palace. It has been taken care of by Rajasthan Government.

One of the most prominent exhibits of the museum is the beautiful statue brought from Baroli, this statue is carved very exquisitely; it is important due to its historical significance. The Brij Vilas Museum mostly concentrates on culture of the region. Objects of historical and scientific importance are exhibited here. The main aim of this museum is to provide all the information about the rich culture and tradition of Rajasthan by all the objects and exhibits which have been collected and kept inside the museum.

Kota is the commercial capital of Rajasthan. Kota city is very beautiful which has a number of attractions such as sand dunes, palaces, forts and waterfalls. Kota occupies an important place in the history of Rajasthan, it was a part of the Rajput kingdom of Bundi. The rich cultural heritage of the city is reflected through its wonderful architectural marvels like the beautiful temples, palaces and museums. Tourists from all over come to visit this city to visit some of the important places like Jagmandir Palace, Chambal Gardens, Rao Madho Singh Museum, Palace Haveli of Deaji, City Fort etc.      

Exhibits and Galleries of Museum

Kota Government Museum is a very famous tourist attraction of Kota which is situated nearby Kishore Sagar Lake in the Brij Vilas Palace. The museum has a special collection of Hadotio statues, old coins and old manuscripts. Among all the sculptures exhibited here, the statue brought from Baroli is the most incredible one. It is an elegant and beautifully carved piece of artwork. Some of the statues present here are quite old and date back to the 4th century.

The manuscripts and the paintings displayed in the museum speak volumes about the creative minds of people from the medieval era. Besides all this, visitors can also see beautiful costumes and handicrafts in the museum. This Museum also has an image of 3rd century Yupa pillars which displays the famous Vedic rites and Vardhaman, Ramgarh dancing pair. Most of the ancient statues and sculptures of the museum dates back to the 4th century Gupta period.

The manuscript and painting sections display a number of works of medieval Indian culture such as miniature paintings, astronomical, astrological and Vedic works. Also, a variety of apparels, handicrafts, costumes and royal clangs are displayed in this museum. A very beautiful and large statue of Shesh Sayi Vishnu which was brought from Baroli is a very wonderful statue on display in the Museum.

This is a noteworthy spot for people who have interest in archeology. The archaeological section displays many ancient sculptures including some dating back to 4th century Gupta period. It encloses an impressive image of Vardhaman and also a superb depiction of Ramgarh dancing pair. Yupa pillars of third century displaying the popular Vedic rites and the rare ancient coins of various dynasties ruled over Kota are displayed here.

Brij Vilas Museum has wide range of collection of documents, manuscripts, artifacts, archeological objects and heirloom items. One of the most important characteristic of the museum is the art and craft of Hadoti region. In fact, this museum is the perfect place to experience the art and culture of Rajasthan.

Museum has a separate section of Painting and Manuscript. These sections are the jewels of ancient culture of India. These include miniature paintings, astrological, astronomical and Vedic works. Different varities of apparels, handicrafts, costumes and so many royal clangs are displayed here. The Brij Vilas Museum mostly concentrates on culture of the region. Objects of historical and scientific importance are exhibited here.
